Dragonfly on prickly pear
It never ceased to amaze me when I found creatures such as this, which require water to complete their life-cycle, in the desert. We have to remember, however, that dragonflies have been on this earth a long time - certainly since before the Sonoran Desert in Arizona was a s dry as it is today. This specimen probably grew up in Sabino Dam in Sabino Canyon near Tucson.
