Frosted Hummocks

At Kingoodie near Dundee, on the banks of the River Tay, only the highest tides wash over some areas of the mud flats, allowing salt-tolerant grasses to grow. In severe winters, despite the heavy salt content of the air and moisture, frosts sometimes form on the hummocks formed by these grasses, which are sculpted by the low morning light.
