The Insects Gallery

I hope you don't mind getting 'up close and personal' to these beautiful creatures (I'm still an entomologist at heart). As with the birds in the Birds Gallery, I try to put my subjects in the context of their environment. All these shots were taken under 'wild' conditions in natural 'available' light, mainly using either a 75-300 mm zoom lens or, my most recent purchase, a 105 mm macro lens. Expect this insect gallery to be updated frequently as I start to photograph the butterflies, grasshoppers etc of southern Italy.
